Burton Hable is in his fifth year of teaching, second in the Ankeny Community School District where he serves as Assistant Director of Bands at Centennial High School. His duties include co-directing the Centennial Marching Band, conducting the Symphonic Band (10th grade concert band), directing Jazz Collective (auditioned 9-12 jazz band), coordinating the Pep Band, teaching Music Fundamentals (non-AP music theory course), and teaching brass lessons to students in 6-12th grade at Prairie Ridge Middle School, Northview Middle School, and Centennial High School.
Mr. Hable holds his Bachelor of Music Education from Iowa State University where he performed as principal trombone in the Wind Ensemble and Symphony Orchestra and lead trombone in Jazz I. He studied trombone with Dr. David Stuart and conducting with Dr. Matthew Smith and Dr. Michael Golemo.
After his studies at Iowa State, Mr. Hable served as Director of Bands at Waterloo West High School for three years, directing the Wind Symphony and Jazz I. He has continued studying conducting with Dr. Ronald Johnson at the University of Northern Iowa, and he is currently pursuing a Masters of Music Education from VanderCook College of Music.
Burton enjoys spending time with his wife, playing trombone, tinkering with Apple devices, and traveling.
